One word: orchestra.

Canadian singer-songwriter Melanie Fiona is a breath of fresh air. Her debut single “Give It to Me Right” didn’t really catch my attention. Even though it wasn’t one of those songs that I would say, “Ooh that’s my song right there,” there was no denying that the girl could sing.

But this second single “It Kills Me” is hands down one of my favorites right now. With an ensemble of harmonic instruments from the cello to the violin to the piano to the guitar and even the saxophone, accompanied with her voice, this song should give anyone chills.

The lyrics of the song are something I’m sure most women can relate to. Words like this don’t just magically turn into a song. She is singing from the heart and I feel her!

“I know you messing around, but who the hell else is gonna hold me down
Ooooh I gotta be out my mind to think it’s gonna work this time
A part of me wants to leave, but the other side still believes
And it kills me to know how much I really love you
So much I wanna ooh hoo ohh to you hoo hoo.”

Melanie you better work it girl! Hope radio stations have this one in heavy rotation.

*Fiona’s debut album The Bridge dropped November 3rd. *
